Overview
This course is one of five modules stackable for the Graduate Diploma in Precision Engineering, specialising in Industrial Automation. It targets at engineers, factory supervisors, managers, researchers and technical staff who are interested in gaining or enhancing the competencies in planning and designing automation for material handling.
This module introduces the automation methods and key components for part transfer within equipment as well as among the machines in the manufacturing industry. It develops the competencies of the participants in planning and
designing real-world automation projects.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand principles of manufacturing automation
- Gain awareness of the basic part transfer methods within equipment
- Select and apply material transfer methods on factory floors
- Review automated material transfer method for logistic industry
- Understand the enabling technologies for robotic pick-and-place
- Learn the latest development of robotic gripping technologies
- Understand the sensor and sensing methods for parts identifications and localisation
- Develop skills in planning automation projects
